I don't want a blog

There are two very distinct types of business owners - the ones who love to blog on their websites, and the ones who loath it.

Whatever camp you fall in is okay! I’m here to speak to the ones who don’t like the word “blog” and find it a task that they can never get around to, let alone even hit publish.

First things first: blogging isn’t punishment and it doesn’t have to feel like the last thing you want to be doing in this world. And the word “blog” doesn’t even really matter.

You can call this area of your site where people get useful information anything that resonates more with your brand: articles, resources, or library. At the end of the day what is most important is that the information you share brings value to the lives of your website visitors, not to mention starts to build a connection with your work and services.

If you are still feeling stuck around the word blog, here are some practical things to consider:

  • Is there content you already have created that you could transform into a blog post? This could be email newsletters or social media.

  • Is there an existing content creation cycle that you can pair your blogging with? I do this with my podcast.

We cover exactly how to do this in more depth in the Homegrown Traffic SEO course and there is a whole lesson on the procedures and tools to facilitate the blogging process.

Also, here are some more mindset tips to consider:

  • If you knew there was someone out there who was already searching for something you had to offer, wouldn’t it be cool if they found your website and you were able to immediately help them? Think about that as you sit down to write.

  • It’s safe for blogging to feel heavy at first. You can start on your own and over time, make it a goal to hire an SEO expert or copywriter.

Wherever you are in your blogging journey, I want you to know that it’s okay. You are doing a good job! Just keep going and stay in tune with your traffic growth. This is also a source of motivation.
