SEO Case Study with Natalie N. Photography

Another SEO case study coming your way, this week with Natalie of Natalie N. Photography.

In this episode I cover Natalie’s traffic results after doing our SEO Strategy Intensive and some learnings.

Here is also what Natalie had to say about our work together:

Working with Cinthia was one of the best choices I made for my business. I was so frustrated trying to teach myself SEO basics, but Cinthia made it simple. She's the perfect guiding hand and really gives you the tools and knowledge so you can take your SEO to the next level. Cinthia gave me awesome insight and told me exactly what to do to improve my SEO ranking. You can tell she really cares about her clients and their success. She's so easy to work with, too! Can't recommend her enough!

In the last 6-months, Natalie’s traffic has gone up and down which could be seasonal I analyze this in more depth during our podcast episode.

In the last 3-months, clicks have been mostly stable, with a small 4% increase.

Impressions have actually grown by 23% which is exciting.

The stabilizing of clicks may because some of the keywords that were previously being ranked on the website are now in lower position. There are also have a few keywords that moved up like “getting married in yosemite” and “taft point wedding”.

In June 2021 we did a standalone SEO audit. This was a keyword focused audit but we also looked at all other areas of the SEO strategy, including technical, UX/UI, competition, backlinks, and content/keywords.

She was already ranking well in a few keywords and we wanted to do understand why and see what we could replicate.

Key Insights

  • Gaining awareness around which keywords we are ranking in currently and how we can make shifts is important. This empowers us and also gives us the option to start choosing more consciously which keywords we want to rank in.

  • Diversifying keywords is important. When we rely too much one keyword, that can leave our rankings to be more vulnerable. Sometimes it’s not because of something specific we did or didn’t do. It can be because of shifts in how keywords are being searches or a new competition.

  • Keywords aren’t the only factor for rankings. Backlinking is another area of SEO that is more mysterious that a lot of business owners don’t know about or avoid. It’s important to also approach this actively.
