I hope that this podcast episode and blog post give you inspiration to build an intentional ecosystem that works for your business to bring you more leads and helps you reach all your business goals.

Let’s go through the different components of your digital marketing plan for your Therapist and Counseling business.

Note: this guide does not cover paid marketing. This podcast episode covers the basics of Facebook ads: Intentional Paid Ads with Tony Rulli

Website

This is your universe. Your online home. You have ownership over this experience and when it comes to Search Marketing, this is where a lot of the work happens,

You want your online home to reflect what your brand stands for and for every visitors to get a taste of your world and what it is like to work with you.

Online Content

Here we are talking about any digital content you put into the world, including email newsletter, videos, podcasts, blogs, etc. This can reflect your brand’s personality and what you enjoy creating.

If you are more inclined to write, you will enjoy keeping your blog updated and your newsletter sent. If you prefer video and audio, maybe a podcast will work better with you.

Whatever you choose, remember to pick something you can somewhat look forward to and stay consistent with.

All this content can live on your website which supports you Search Marketing.

Social Channels

There are so many other channels where your potential clients can find you now: Facebook, Instagram Twitter, and LinkedIn. These platforms are also part of your ecosystem.

It’s important to have at least your business registered on each channel, even if you aren’t active there so anyone searching can follow you there. You can later decided where you want to focus your efforts.

This isn’t about necessarily having to be everywhere at once but if you are starting, focusing on the social channels that are easier for you to create content for and interact with. You can always expand and grow your presence on a new one down the line.

Professional Community

Here we are talking about your professional network that bring you referrals, backlinks, and reflect your credentials (or where you potentially studied or went to school).

This is so important for Search Marketing, especially as a Therapist or Counselor since Google and the humans want to know if you are professional trained to talk about mental health.

It’s important to actively maintain and build your network, as well as pitch websites that could feature you on their podcast, blog post, etc.

Partner Businesses

Finally, let’s talk about your partner businesses; those business partners who serve a similar audience but aren’t Therapist or Counselors. This could be:

  • Traditional doctors

  • Chiropractors

  • Yoga instructor

  • Breathing expert

  • Meditation coach

These type of businesses can be an untaped mine of client referrals (both offline and online) and since they aren’t direct competition, it is really a win win for everyone.

Now what?

Here are some things to consider as you are evaluating your digital marketing ecosystem:

  • Make a list of all the ways you are marketing your business and the different platforms that you have registered your brand on.

  • Evaluate which areas you feel you are doing a good job at marketing your business and which areas could use some work. Reflect on why.

  • Decide which area you want to focus on for the next 90 days and build a plan to action. Keep it simple and keep in mind your other commitments.
