Why have a website in 2021?

When most people hear Search Marketing, they think code, and secret technical “tricks” that will get you on page 1 of Google.


I think about how we can honestly change the world by answering people’s questions through Google.


Have you ever considered why people search what they search before coming on their website?

There are four reasons why someone might search something on Google:

  • Navigational - they are looking for a specific website/tool. Eg. facebook, calculator, etc

  • Transactional - they are wanting to buy something and want the fastest option to buy now. Eg. Macbook pro sale, Nespresso capsules pack, etc.

  • Informational - they are trying to get specific information about a topic. Eg. Michael Jordan age, how to unstick bubble gum from hair

  • Commercial Investigation - they are wanting to make a purchase and are doing some research about what the best options are available. Eg. best dry shampoo, Mailchimp vs. Convertkit


In most cases, our sites hit all these searches in one way or another but it’s important to identify which one of these types of search intents are going to attract more leads and sales to your site.
