Local SEO vs. Global SEO

Let’s talk Local SEO! This is a topic that I’ve been asked about and I wanted to take the time to walk you through it.

Differences between Local SEO and Global SEO:

  • Local SEO focuses on local based business, inside of a geographical area.

  • Global SEO (or Web Based) is all about driving traffic to your website and targeting specific keyword by creating awesome content.

  • Both these methods require you to build authority in your industry so that you be known for what you do.


Here are the main areas to impact when it comes to Local SEO:

  • Directories: making sure all your directories are consistent and accurate. First evaluate where you are getting most traffic and then start to form a strategy of what additional directories you want to register in. Here are some examples: Google My Business, Yelp, and Facebook.

  • Ratings and Reviews: I know it’s not always easy to get reviews from your clients, but if you actively ask for reviews inside of your day to day interactions with clients, it will come more easily. Consider adding a review automations in your email list or after someone works with you. Making it an automated process that happens independently of you is ideal.



With both these types of SEO, I recommend you follow the AIM process: Assess, Implement, and Monitor. This allows you to get results faster and allows you to experiment with what works best for your site, in a controlled environment.
